ST LAZARUS AND ST ANDREW GREEK ORTHODOX CHURCH

The only Orthodox church with its own building in Newham. It began in 1973 at the home of Father Seraphim before settling in Rutland Road E7  The congregation is drawn from the Greek Cypriot community. There are other churches in Hackney and Leyton.

The Orthodox Churches are the historic Christian denominations of Greece and Western Asia. In Newham they now include:

COPTIC CHURCH OF ST MARY AND ST GEORGE which has met at St Bartholomews, Barking Road E6 1992.

SYRIAN ORTHODOX  ST JAMES MAR THOMA CHURCH for Malayam and South Indian Christians worships in East Ham at the home of the priest  and is linked with the long-established [1858] central London 600 strong congregation at St Katherine Cree Church, 86 Leadenhall Street EC3.

ROMANIAN ORTHODOX group travel to their church in Wembley.
